The show's concept originated in new burlesque, which was born of a desire to pay tribute to two different eras. The first was from the end of the 19th century, where we saw the birth of the light entertainment of Parisian cabarets that have since become world famous, including Les Folies Bergères, the Moulin Rouge and the Chat Noir. It was during the same period that this particular style of show crossed overseas to the United States under its original name of burlesque. As the opening of the American West drew to a close, travelling circuses included unusual shows in their tours specifically intended for a mature audience, as well as girl shows in which the performers would undress to varying degrees. Abandoned since the 1960s, the new burlesque genre enjoyed a comeback beginning in the early 90s. Still relatively unknown in Quebec City, Carnaval Burlesque wants to revive and modernize the art and this by selecting a central theme to ensure the evening is unforgettable. The show draws inspiration from the old time American sideshows of the interwar period. The evening will feature a line-up of top notch artists from all around the world: Miss Exotik World, First Runner Up, and Miss Nude Canada as well as many other performers who have been refining their style in the milieu for many years. Moreover, Carnaval Burlesque has elected to incorporate a few circus-inspired acts.
