Dallaire. From Idea to Object

More than 80 original objects and drawings, including the Olympic torch of the 1976 Montréal Games and the BIXI bicycle, document the career of Québec industrial design pioneer Michel Dallaire. Enormous thought and effort go into designing daily objects—from park benches to yogurt containers! This exhibition illustrates Michel Dallaire's creative process, from the first inkling of an idea to the manufacturing of the item. The steps of creating an object are examined, highlighting must-have criteria for functionality and all sorts of limitations that must be worked around. Exhibition-goers will get to know a creator who infuses people's lives with beauty. How is Dallaire's style recognizable? His objects are functional without a doubt, but they are also visually pleasing and improve users' quality of life. With his many accomplishments, Michel Dallaire has left his mark on the contemporary Québec landscape..
